Sheffield Board Accepts Two Resignations, Approves Permits
Select Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Sheffield Select Board clashes with resident over "filthy" library bathrooms. Resident Stephanie D'Angelo told the board the library's restrooms, used by an estimated 8,500 patrons since May, have gone uncleaned for four months and contained "visible fecal matter," a claim a board member disputed after inspecting the building himself. Town Administrator Jeff said the town has an interview scheduled this week for a vacant janitor position but that the state's Chapter 30B procurement law bars a quick switch to an outside cleaning service.
The board also accepted the resignations of Board of Health member Barbara Reeves and Planning Board member Robbie Cooper, announced prospective appointees for four vacant committee seats, approved three one-day alcohol permits for Dewey Hall events and the Sheffield Land Trust, and renewed its $800-a-month contract with Fleetwood Environmental Solutions for Conservation Commission consulting.
