SHEFFIELD — May 5, 2026 — Sheffield Select Board approves revaluation contract and new transfer station fees after Annual Town Meeting. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to award a $20,500 property revaluation and inspection services contract to SEK Consulting, which is already performing cyclical inspections in town, with a hard September deadline for completion so the state Department of Revenue can certify the town's tax rate. The board also set fiscal year 2027 transfer station fees — $240 for a regular sticker, $210 for qualifying seniors, and $100 for a standalone recycling sticker, with late fees kicking in after August 15. Separately, the board authorized Renee Wood to file a Massachusetts Office on Disability grant application by the end of May for a combined website accessibility and playground communication board project estimated at $15,000 to $16,000. On the library modernization project, two bids were received — TK Elevator came in at $145,655.08 against a prior estimate of $189,000 — but the town administrator held off on recommending an award pending a detailed review of the low bid with site-visit coordinator Ken Smith.
